I am YouTube's bitch

the_xtina has ruined my life and probably put my job in jeopardy by posting this link to classic videos, and I've decided to share the pain. If you have an affection for 80's music, you can kiss your productivity goodbye now. Not only does it have a boatload of videos, but a lot of them have links to other videos by the same artists.

It's bad. Just... bad. I've been going through this one page for days, and I'm compulsively downloading videos and formatting 'em for my iPod.

Oh! Speaking of which, if you see a video on YouTube that you'd like to have, you can do so easily using either this link or this one. The second one (Keepvid.com) has a button that you can drag to your toolbar, so you don't even need to copy & paste the URL.

Don't think for a second that I'm doing you any favors here. I'm cursing you all. :-)

So now that you've pulled down that Rick Astley video you've always wanted (you shameless freak!), how can you get it onto your iPod? If you've got a Mac, and you're lazy like me, you can use iSquint to automatically convert it. It's a snap to use, and as odd as this may sound, it's the funniest file conversion utility you'll ever use.

Yes, funny. The iSquint site reads like subtle comedy, and the humor carries over to the app itself. I can't explain it. You'll just have to see. (Oh, and it also does a fine job of converting .FLV's to .MP4's quickly).

If you've read this far into this post then you clearly have too much time to waste, so I'll leave you with a couple of glimpses of perfection. First off, Sigue Sigue Sputnik were/are gods who walk among us, and this video for Love Missile F1-11 shows the world as it should be (or at least, as it should have been in the nighttime neon-city wastelands of the 80's music scene!

Secondly, Information Society's Think is pure cyberpunk joy. I want my house to look like the control room that the video opens with. Come to think of it, it kind of does. :-)

You are truly evil...the only thing saving me is that the sound on our work computers (at least on the floor) is disabled...

Will have to try this at home this weekend...
