Eye-con

Con Food- who to eat and where!

Con (6)
noun informal
a convention, exp. one for science-fiction enthusiasts.
ORIGIN 1970's: abbreviation.

In case my post from a short while ago didn't make it clear, I'm rather excited about Dragon*Con, which runs September 1-4. I probably posted something similar about a year ago, but for me Dragon*Con is the high point of the year. It's Christmas, my birthday, Tết, and Halloween rolled together, garnished with nudity, and served with a big helping of Mardi Gras.

My plans and costumes for this year don't differ significantly from last year. I'll get my hair trimmed sometime later this week so I can get started with the bleaching (my Fall coat, doncha' know!). We'll be bringing just a bit more electronics this year than in years past. I'm looking forward to tacit and gaycowboys participating in the cryonics panel, can't wait for the live recording of The Signal, and I expect to get naked at least once (not during The Signal).

For those who are going, someone has thoughtfully put together a list of places to go to eat that are within striking range of `con. It's a .PDF, so I'll be saving it. We already have tentative plans to have sushi with some of the cryonics gang. :-)

Geek Awe

Okay, so the other day I posted a link to some Star Trek "motivational" posters that I thought were really funny.

I was wrong.

I knew not what geek humor truly is, and my eternal thanks to zotmeister for setting me straight. This is what I should've linked to! There are 14 pages of them, and they keep getting funnier. If you've ever been to a con, played WoW, or heard the term THAC0, these will cause you to squirt fluids with glee.

(I can't believe I just said that.)
