Ill Omens

Freakin' roller coaster, I tell 'ya, and not in a good way.

I talked with Ryan today. He had two pieces of information for me- neither one good.

1) He got a call from the hospital. They refused to tell him the results of his biopsy beyond "they found something". They didn't want to give him any additional information over the phone, and want to do it in a situation where they can answer any additional questions he may have and discuss options. He said he tried getting belligerent with them, and I can't blame him. They were resolute though, and I probably can't blame them either. So the pendulum swings back over to the "worried" side.

2) His uncle died last night after heart surgery. :-( Surprisingly (to me, anyway) it's the first time he's ever had a family member die. He's understandably shaken. He said that his mom is just a wreck.

Tomorrow he re-admits himself to the hospital at 10:30, and should get the full scoop sometime shortly thereafter. As before, as soon as I hear anything, I'll post it here.

Ryan Update: What little we know

"Insufficient tissue sample to make a determination"

That about sums it up. He went in at 10:30, but couldn't meet with anyone until 12. Eventually he tracked down the pathologist who did his actual biopsy on his own, caught him in his office, and spoke with him directly.

They did an additional CT scan of his neck and took another chest x-ray. Whatever is in his chest is getting bigger. :-(

They're going to schedule a "wedge biopsy". We don't know when yet. Can anyone shed any light on the specifics of what that entails beyond "they open him up and take out a chunk"?

Firefly, Serenity

Shiny! (From Queenwench)

I was surprised that Battlestar Galactica didn't rate higher. Then I remembered that I'm a total technophile. :-)

You scored as Serenity (from Firefly). You like to live your own way and do not enjoy when anyone but a friend tries to tell you that you should do different. Now if only the Reavers would quit trying to skin you.
