New Battlestar Galactica Series

What would you do- how would you react- if you knew that you would have to face a terrifying, life-threatening emergency every 33 minutes, 24 hours a day? In just 5 days that would be 225 major crises. How would you continue to function? Which would give out first, your mind or your body?

The last television show I made a point of watching with any semblance of regularity was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That's been off the air for quite some time now, and my TV watching has dropped off to almost nil. In fact, everything I currently watch is either on DVD or at someone else's house, and if our cable went out the only way I'd know is that the internet connection would be interrupted.

This is going to change (at least somewhat) in January, when the Battlestar Galactica miniseries that the Sci-Fi channel did earlier this year becomes a series.

The miniseries was a "reimagining" of the original TV show, and was done brilliantly. It's very different- darker and more introspective, while remaining true to the spirit of the original series.

I had the opportunity to see the first episode today. Holy frack. It's magnificent! I can't imagine how they'll be able to consistently maintain this level of quality, but I hope they at least come close. Writing, acting, special effects- all top notch!

Only two complaints:
1) They didn't keep the original series music, though I must admit that the new music is excellent and probably more in keeping with the tone of the show.
2) What's with the overuse of simulated zoom lens effects?

Oh, how I shall geek out!!!
