Well, it's official. After approximately 3 years, 3 months, the relationship/poly-fi quad/squad/cult/fire team/tasty snack with a crunchy center/gang known as The Smoosh has dissolved back into (as near as we can tell right now) its original two couples. I'm afraid that I can't really offer much in the way of details at this point, and possibly not ever. As recently as yesterday afternoon I thought that everything was going exceedingly well, so this is a huge life change in a very short period of time, and I'm pretty thoroughly stunned by it all.

I may not be as active online for a little while as we try to pick up the pieces, and I may not be quick to answer e-mail (like I ever am!). Or I may be online constantly, looking for some kind of distraction. Most likely it'll be short spurts of both, but it's waaaaay too early to tell right now for sure. I may also be craving activities and distractions in meat space, so I may be hitting up those of you who are local.

As far as the inevitable "is it an amicable split?" question goes, I don't know about the long term. All things considered tonight's Conversation was relatively hostility-free, which is good sign. Time will tell.

Please add my inadequate "I'm so sorry" to the pile I'm sure you'll be hearing. :(

Warmth, comfort, understanding and hugs for you all in this difficult transition.

Sorry to hear this. I know how hard this sucks.

If you find yourself needing serious meat-space distractions in the form of a road trip, call us. We (a) have Disney annual passes and (b) will soon be in the new house with a great place to stay for the weekend. :-) Y'all are always welcome, you know that.

I know that all of you are going through a lot right now, and the transition will take time and hurt to get through.

I'm amazed with all 4 of you for having created something so beautiful and enriching to all of your lives for the past 3+ years out of an existing friendship, and to handle the parting of ways as romantic partners with that same foundation of love and friendship - it is truly beautiful (albeit sad) to witness.

Funny thing, that.

It's trivial by comparison, but my video game foo has also experienced a collapse. We got home last night to find that our PS2 is now completely dead (I had just gotten hooked on "Destroy All Humans! 2").

We brought my gaming PC home from M&J's last night with the rest of our stuff and found that there's absolutely no place to set it up. It'll probably take days of concerted rearranging and throwing-away-of-stuff to be able to play C&C again.

And an old favorite game (Outpost) that I'd just gotten the Mac version of yesterday afternoon doesn't run right under OS X.

So much for the easy distractions!

I recommend Ogre ( or my favorite GEV).

There's nothing quite as uplifting as blowing things to smithereens with a tank the size of a large city block....

if it helps distraction-wise, I have LOTS more porn I can share with you

My thoughts are with all of you as you adjust and hurt and adjust some more and feel weird and try to get used to it and distract and cry a little more and adjust again. *sigh* I'm not good at this :) - just know that you're not alone.

We are here for all of you. You are all considered to be some of our most valued friends. We are thinking of you.

Also, I think/hope I have gotten over my "sickness" from roller coasters, as I rode Shiekra at Busch Gardens and thought of you. We have passes if you guys ever want to go some Sunday. I am taking baby steps, but I had a blast on it and it was freaking amazing....

Love you!!!!

*big squishings*

We're not as local as some perhaps but we're up for diversionary outings or visits. Give us a call.

I'm happy I got to give you a real *hug* last night. It was good to see a smile on your face despite the drama and pain going on behind the grin.

I'm still in shock. It's been a week and I still can't believe that this has happened. *shakes head sadly*

Re: *hug*
Agreed! Virtual hugs are great, but they're no comparison to the real thing.

It does me good to see you- more than you know. It was definitely a high point of the evening, and considering how great the show was that's saying something. :-)

From my perspective the timing of the concert really couldn't have been better. It was a much needed distraction, and VNV always seems to have a very positive theme to their shows. It was downright theraputic.

Sorry I lost you and didn't get a chance to say g'night. I owe you two hugs if we run into each other at The Police.

So sorry. Hugs to all, if you need me, let me know.
