40 years ago right now...

* Mom was pregnant with me (just started the 2nd trimester)

* Dad was setting up a camera on a tripod to photograph the TV (he'd later discover to his disappointment that there was no film in the camera).

* And the greatest single engineering project in the history of mankind was about to culminate with the first manned moon landing.

BTW, you can hear it "live plus 40" at http://www.wechoosethemoon.com . They've been playing the *entire* mission.

:-) I had just turned 12. I predate the space age (Sputnik's beep) by 94 days. I have known a world where we were still trapped on this planet, pre-Gemini missions. You never have.

I have just told Alex about Bill F.'s story of missing the landing because his parents made him go to bed. While they were on vacation, and weren't getting up early. He was 8. Alex is aghast. As well he should be!

Where is the time going? Shiesh. Seems like just yesterday I met ya!

This whole "time passing" thing weirds me right the hell out, I tell ya'! I'm definitely a different person than I was 20 years ago (or even 10 years ago), but I don't feel like an older person. I still watch cartoons, play with toy soldiers (they don't fare well against Terminators), and can amuse myself for hours with nothing more than a handful of twist ties. This morning I cut open glow sticks for fun, and the novelty of "I live on my own so I can eat Lucky Charms for dinner every day if I want to!" still hasn't worn off. :-) Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Then again, maybe I'm doing something right.

And yeah, it does seem like we met just yesterday. But the last "day" has been one hell of a ride, eh? :-) Speaking of naked parties meeting, will we be seeing you and radven at Dragon*Con?

*Hugs* either way!

I think you're doing something darn right :)

And.. afraid you won't be seeing us at D*C.. as we'll be off at another naked party in the desert. Shame they book these things at the same time at opposite corners of the country. :)
